Load Separation Rules

Sort every batch before loading. Wrong combinations cause colour bleed, fabric damage, and lint transfer.

Darks (navy, black, charcoal, deep red) — wash separately
Lights and whites — wash separately
Neutrals and mid-tones (tan, sage, dusty pink, oat) — can wash together
When in doubt — keep darks away from lights
Heavy items (fleece, sherpa, denim) — wash separately from delicates
Delicates (gauze, bamboo, modal, waffle knit) — wash together on gentle cycle
Fleece & Sherpa — wash only with similar items. They shed lint heavily onto other fabrics
Hand-wash items arrive in a separate bag labelled “HAND WASH ONLY”
Do not mix these into the machine-wash pile
Cool/lukewarm water + Truly Free Detergent. Gently agitate — do not wring or scrub. Rinse thoroughly. Press out excess water. Lay flat to dry.
When a load has both tumble-dry and lay-flat items — separate immediately after washing, before anything goes in the dryer
Lay flat items → drying rack. Tumble-dry items → dryer on low.
Never let bamboo, waffle knit, modal, linen, merino, or velvet sit in a warm dryer — even briefly

Stain Treatment

Always treat before washing. Never use heat on an untreated stain — heat sets stains permanently. Check every item before placing in the dryer.

1Spray with Stain Spray. Let sit 5–10 min.
2Cold machine wash with detergent + OxyBoost.
3Check after wash before drying. Repeat if needed.
1Rinse with cool water first. Then spray with Stain Spray.
2Cold wash only — never warm or hot.
Protein stains set permanently in hot water. Cold only, always.
1Let mud dry fully, then brush off loose dirt.
2Spray stain area with Stain Spray.
3Cold wash with detergent + OxyBoost.
Do not rub wet mud — it spreads the stain.
1Rinse with cold water immediately.
2Spray with Stain Spray.
3Cold wash only.
Hot water sets blood stains permanently. Cold only.
1Rinse off solids. Spray with Stain Spray. Let sit 10 min.
2Cold wash with detergent + OxyBoost.
OxyBoost helps neutralise odour.
1Spray immediately with Stain Spray.
2Cold wash with OxyBoost.
The sooner treated, the better the result.
1Gently blot — do not rub. Spray with Stain Spray.
2Cold wash with detergent.
Sunscreen can leave oily residue — may need a second wash.
1Gently scrape off excess — do not smear.
2Spray area with Stain Spray.
3Cold wash with OxyBoost.
1Spray Stain Spray generously. Let sit 10+ min.
2Cold wash — check result carefully before drying.
Permanent markers may not fully lift. If stain remains after two attempts, flag for review.

Flagging Items for Review

If an item cannot be returned to a clean, presentable condition after two full treatment and wash attempts — stop and flag it.

Stains that have not lifted after two treatment and wash cycles
Stains that appear to have been set by heat
Items with discolouration, fading, or colour bleed from another garment
Any damage noticed during cleaning — tears, broken snaps, pulled threads
Place in a separate bag, clearly marked “REVIEW — DO NOT PACK”
Include a brief note — e.g. “grass stain on knee, did not lift after two washes”
Return the flagged bag alongside the cleaned batch — do not discard any items
When in doubt, flag it. It is always better to flag than to pack a stained or damaged item.

Folding & Return Packaging

Presentation matters — garments ship in boxes and members notice how they arrive. Fold every item flat and stack neatly.

Fold garments flat — no balling or rolling
Onesies & bodysuits: fold arms in, fold in thirds vertically, then fold bottom up
T-shirts & tops: fold sleeves in, fold in thirds or half depending on size
Pants & leggings: fold in half lengthwise, then fold in thirds
Cardigans & knitwear: lay flat, fold arms across, fold in half — do not stretch
Dresses & rompers: fold as a top — keep shape clean
Stack by size — smallest garments on top
Keep matching sets together where possible
Delicate items (velvet, merino) go on top of the stack — never underneath heavy items
Place all folded items back into the H&S provided bag — lay flat, do not stuff or compress
Hand-wash items go back into their original separate hand-wash bag
Do not use any other bag or packaging — original H&S bag only
Ensure the bag is fully closed before returning
